2. Text experiments

This week, I wanted to focus a bit more on the text that I’d show on my paper forms.

I wanted to use something that leans more on giving a certain impression overall, rather than on a thread of thinking that requires a particular order of reading. Another thing I wanted to explore, was some kind of rhyme and rhythm, in order to play with anticipation, and tie the words together even more in the reader’s mind, whether by their meaning or sound.

That’s why in the end I looked for song lyrics, as many of them depend on creating overall atmosphere and don’t require following a story. And because of their close relationship with music, which often gives a structure to their form.

I decided to work with 3 fragments from 2 songs, and did some trials to see how the lyrics would work when taken apart and assembled together:

Skyline, FKJ

.

I’m in the right direction
I mean to ride this ocean
Travelling in slow motion
Paddling with no question

.

Early morning with the sun
Not yet burning, innocent
I try to be a good son
Myself one hundred per cent

Vibin’ out, FKJ + (((O)))

.

No rainy, no windy, no sun
Just music and just with the one
I’m fine like that, fine like that, fine
I never be losin’, I’ve won every time

Then later I tried to see how putting the text on a movable paper form would affect the reading.
